Zine design based on St. Joan of Arc. The overall design was inspired by the style of illuminated manuscripts. The page layouts were created using Adobe Indesign.
I loved getting to add my own hand-done elements to this project! All the illustrations are completely hand-drawn and many were used to make the patterns throughout, gold leafing is glued on the front and back covers, the binding is hand-sewn, the stained glass effect on the Conversation page, and the page about Joan's Armor was created using tissue paper, glue, and wax paper.

The red on this page is inspired by the red vestments priests wear for feast days of martyrs, and this page discusses St. Joan's death.

In contrast to the banner on the front cover, the back cover is the cross that she asked the priest who did not want St. Joan killed to hold up while she was being burned at the stake so that she could keep her eyes on Jesus as she died.
